FARR Certified Level II

Code of Ethics

As a FARR-certified residence, Dania Haven upholds the highest standards of ethical care and resident well-being.

Our Commitment

FARR Certified Residences ensure all owners, managers, and staff receive an orientation to FARR's Code of Ethics and document their agreement to abide by these principles as a condition of employment. All staff complete FARR Ethics and Standards training annually. Residents receive an orientation of their rights and responsibilities upon admission, including their right to receive ethical care and the process to report any violations.

1

Responsibility to Residents

  • The primary obligation of Owners, Managers, Staff and Volunteers of Certified Residences is to respect the integrity and promote the welfare of the resident.
  • In a community setting, staff are responsible for taking reasonable precautions to protect individuals from physical and/or psychological trauma.
  • Staff, volunteers, and visiting sponsors set a norm of confidentiality regarding all community participants' disclosures.
  • When a resident's needs are not being met at the current level of care, they will receive the necessary assistance with residential placement in the appropriate level of care.
  • If a resident's condition indicates clear and imminent danger, staff alert first responders and apprise the Recovery Residence supervisor.
  • No intimidation, bullying, or otherwise threatening or discriminatory behavior — only appropriate, consistent application of written residence rules.
  • No Owners, Managers, Staff, or Volunteers will solicit or accept any commission, fee, or anything of monetary value from residents.
2

Confidential Information

  • While employed at any Certified Recovery Residence and after employment ends, confidential information must never be disclosed except with the resident's written authorization or as allowed under Federal and/or State law.
  • No employee or volunteer may use, or permit others to use, confidential information for the purpose of furthering a private interest or generating profit.
3

Marketing Ethics

  • No false or misleading statements or exaggerations in any marketing or advertising.
  • No testimonials that do not reflect the real opinion of the involved individual.
  • No misleading price claims.
  • No promotional offers designed to induce enrollment in exchange for free rent, air travel, grocery cards, gym memberships, or other incentives.
  • No therapeutic strategies for which licensure and/or counseling certifications are required but not applicable at the Certified Recovery Residence.
4

Ethical Conflicts

  • Employees shall excuse themselves from recovery and/or treatment plans of relatives, close friends, and/or business acquaintances.
  • No commission, bonus, rebate, kick-back, or bribe to induce referral or acceptance of patients.
  • Former clients are not hired as employees unless a minimum six (6) month prohibition period has elapsed.
  • All program associates refrain from non-therapeutic dual relationships for a minimum of 2 years.
  • No clinical or therapeutic interventions without proper licensure under Chapter 65D-30, Florida Administrative Code.
5

Responsibility to Colleagues

  • Any knowledge of unethical practices by a colleague shall be reported to the Recovery Residence Administrator and/or the colleague's professional Ethics Board.
  • Staff should not use the workplace for proselytizing religious, political, or economic issues (except for faith-based programs sharing personal testimony with consenting residents).

File a Grievance

FARR ensures that no retribution, intimidation, or negative consequences shall occur if a grievance or complaint has been filed. You have the right to report any ethical or standards violations.

All residents receive an orientation of their rights and responsibilities upon admission, including their right to receive ethical care and the process to report violations. Documentation is maintained in each resident's file.
