Questions

Sober Living FAQ

The things people actually ask us on the phone. If your question is not here, call (305) 934-5801 — we answer 24/7.

How much does sober living cost at Dania Haven?+

$230 per week or $920 per month, all inclusive, with no move-in fee. That covers your furnished bed, all utilities, cable and internet, bed linens, towels and cleaning supplies. We accept Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, Check, Cash.

Do you take insurance?+

Sober living is housing rather than clinical treatment, so it is generally not billed to insurance. Residents pay privately, weekly or monthly. If you are in an IOP or PHP program, your insurance may cover that clinical treatment separately while you live with us.

Can I move in straight from detox or treatment?+

Yes, and many residents do. We work directly with detox facilities, residential treatment centers, PHP and IOP programs, hospitals and case managers on discharge planning, and can often accept a same-day or next-day placement.

Do I have to be sober to move in?+

Yes. This is a sober living environment, so you must be detoxed and abstinent before moving in. If you still need detox, call us anyway and we will help point you to the right place first.

How long can I stay?+

There is no fixed end date. You can stay as long as you are working your recovery, paying rent and following the house agreement. Most residents stay several months; some stay a year or more while they rebuild work, finances and family relationships.

What are the house rules?+

No drugs or alcohol on the property or in your system. Random drug and alcohol screening. Respect curfew, attend house meetings, participate in 12-step or another recovery program, do your assigned chores, pay rent on time, and treat other residents and neighbors with respect.

Are the men's and women's homes separate?+

Completely. They are two different properties at two different addresses. The women's home is a FARR-certified Level II recovery residence with dual diagnosis support. Dania Haven II, the men's home, is structured sober living.

Who runs the homes?+

Juliette Rossi is our Housing Supervisor & Certified Recovery Residence Administrator (CRRA), and Susan serves as house manager. There is on-site management at the homes, and our intake line is answered 24 hours a day.

Can I keep my job or go to work?+

Yes — we encourage it. Employment is part of rebuilding a stable life, and we help with resume building, employment services, food stamps and discounted bus passes. Residents work, attend school and go to outpatient treatment while living with us.

Can I have visitors?+

Visitors are allowed within house guidelines and approved hours, cleared with house management in advance. The rules exist to protect every resident's recovery, so they are applied consistently.

What happens if someone relapses?+

Relapse is handled case by case with the safety of the whole house as the first consideration. It does not automatically mean you are on the street with nowhere to go — we will help you find an appropriate next step, whether that is detox, treatment or another placement.

What if you do not have a bed available?+

Call anyway. If we cannot place you, we will help you find another safe, reputable recovery residence. We would rather you land somewhere good than nowhere.
